Watch Dogs 2 Tips and Trophy Guide

Tips

To start with you have to decide how you want to play, or at least understand the three different play styles the game provides. You can use one, two, or a combination of all three of course, as needed. The three types are:

Trickster

The Trickster abilities are about manipulating the environment around you. These include abilities like bringing the police in to arrest a target or making cars suddenly start driving themselves. These types of abilities cause mayhem in the environment to sow chaos, usually so you can either sneak or get the jump on your enemies, or even just take them out if you use these abilities right.

Ghost

Ghost abilities are centered around doing things undetected. They include such things as abilities for the RC vehicles and distractions to keep guards occupied while you sneak by. These are the core abilities for the players who want to get in somewhere, get the job done, and get back out without anyone being the wiser.

Aggressor

The Aggressor abilities are focused around doing damage, taking people down, and most importantly blowing **** up! These abilities include firearms specialties like more damage against armor or explosive bombs. These are the abilities you'll want to invest in if you like to go in loud and proud.

The RC Vehicles

One of the most important aspects of the game to understand and master is the use of the two RC vehicles. I highly recommend making them some of your first investments as your cash starts to come in, particularly if you want to play in a more stealthy style. We'll look at both vehicles, and their similarities and differences.

The Jumper

The Jumpers is an RC vehicle that drives on the ground. Its main specialty is jumping (obviously). It's a great tool both for getting into tight spaces, as well as areas that are under guard and may be harder to get your character into.

The main point of this vehicle is that it can do both regular hacks (the ones you can do through the air just by pressing L1) and physical hacks (where you have to go to the machine and interact with it). The only exception to the latter is ones that require the main character to do typing or a few other story related activities.

Additionally, you can also perform other tasks the main character can such as environment hacks, enemy hacks, etc..

Basically this little guy is like a small version of the main character, minus the ability to shoot guns. You can complete a lot of missions just by sending this into the building on it's own, keeping yourself safe and tucked away nearby.

The Quadcopter (Drone)

The Quadcopter is basically the drone we've all become familiar with in recent years. It has the ability to fly which gives it incredible mobility. However, it's important to note that it can only perform regular hacks (the ones through the air with L1), but CAN'T do any kind of physical hacking like you can with the Jumper vehicle.

Basically this vehicle is great for scouting the area before you head in, tagging enemies so you can see them through walls using the R3 vision ability (press in the fight joy stick) and getting codes you sometimes have to hack off enemies and computers.

This RC vehicle is a bit expensive, but I highly recommend making the purchase as soon as possible, as it is a very useful and fun tool to have.

Trophy Guide

Below you'll find the trophies listed in the order they are presented when you look at them in the Trophy section of the Dashboard. At this time the only trophies I don't have are the Multiplayer ones. It hasn't been working since launch, and I will update with tips on how to get them once they fix the issues.

Graduation Day (Platinum)

Win every other trophy.

Who Am I

Story related, can't be missed.

Put Your Damn Pants On

Story related, can't be missed.

Menace

Buy a two-handed weapon at the 3D printer.

Self-explanatory. You can find 3d printers in any of the Dedsec hideouts.

In Style

Buy the Gatorfeet Whine Country footwear.

You can get these at Plainstock clothing store in the footwear section.

DedSec-A-Roni

Ride a cable car.

You can find these running around in the San Fransisco area. Go up to one and you can get in.

Only God Can Judge Me

Buy a shirt in the Nudle vending machine.

You'll find the vending kiosk on the Nudle grounds. You can fast travel right to it.

Doggyland

Pet 10 dogs.

You can find dogs around the city. Just approach one and you can pet it. Do this 10 times as you see dogs through your game and you'll get this.

Photobombed

Get photobomed in a selfie.

To get this you have to get in position to take a selfie. Then, if there are NPC in the frame with you they may start doing actions like making faces and gestures, and if you take the photo during this time you should get it.

A Ride to Remember

Drive one of the unique vehicles.

These show up on your map from time to time. I got this doing a mission for Ray late in the game heading out to a lighthouse. I ran right by it parked by a tent.

Bad Boys

Hijack a boat.

Just steal a boat.

Something To Ride

Hijack a bus.

Steal a bus.

Researcher

Collect all the Key Data hidden in the world.

The game is actually nice enough to tell you the general area of these even if you haven't discovered them yet. All you have to do is go into the Research app, click on the ability that has a Key Data associated with it, and it should take you into the map at the general area where you find it. Then just go there and use the R3 vision ability to pinpoint it.

Most of these are puzzles you have to figure out, and they almost always involve the RC cars and/or the puzzles that you have to move energy from one area to another while flipping various pieces to change how the energy flows, or puzzles where you have to figure out how to get your Jumper or main character up to the top or certain part of a building.

I'm planning to do a more detailed guide for each of the key data and will update with the solutions when I've done so.

Smooth Felon

Escape a Level 5 felony.

I'm not sure if you get this naturally through the game if you play using the Aggressive style. I prefer stealth myself, so I didn't have this after completing the game. So what I did was I went to the HQ across from Mission Delores Park. I hid in the back by where you go down into the actual HQ and killed some people so the cops would come. Then I killed the cops until I had a level 5 cop alarm.

At that point I took my 5 lethal and 5 non-lethal bombs (the ones you can throw and explode remotely) and set them up all around the front door and main part of the coffee shop. Then I ducked back and waited for the wanted level to switch to searching. Those who tried to come into the cafe would get knocked out or killed by the bombs, but since the cops don't know where you are it doesn't go back into alarm mode.

***Note that it's possible the Escape Meter will suddenly go back to full for no apparent reason. I'm not sure if this is a result of having a high wanted level, or if it was a glitch involving the helicopter flying over head, but I adjusted my position a few times (last time was up against the wall across from the HQ entrance) and eventually it stopped resetting and I finally vanished. If you experience this just try moving positions some and it should eventually clear.

Miniroadtrip!

Drive 4km in the world while driving the Merengue from Elek Motors.

Don't be confused by Elek Motors. You can purchase one of these from Total Motors in the Standard Vehicle section.

I have seen these occasionally driving around town, but I only noticed after I had already purchased it. As such, I don't know if you can find one before buying your own, and I don't know if you can drive one you don't own and still get the trophy.

Knock You Out

Do a stealth takedown on 30 enemies.

Just sneak up behind guards and hit circle. Do this 30 times.

Jump Around

Do a 140 meters long jump while driving a vehicle.

You can get this naturally by doing the Downtown Dash dirtbike race. At the very end, right before the finish line, you'll come down a hill and jump off some stairs of a viewing platform. You should get the trophy if you don't have it.

Note that I had the ability to press X and boost the vehicle, so this may or may not be necessary.

Earn Your Sea Legs

Do a sailboat race.

You must buy your own boat from the Sailboat Shop on the small northern area (north of Alcatraz, top of the map). There's a guy nearby that will introduce you to the races.

You don't even have to win, so you can just buy the cheap boat if you just want the trophy.

Roboteer

Hack a robot.

This requires a talent, Robot Exploits, in the City Disruption section. Then you just have to go to an area in the game with robots (you'll see plenty in parts of the story) and use a hacking ability on one.

Third Time's the Charm

Make 3 jumps in a row aboard a vehicle.

I got this just driving fast out in one of the wilderness areas. Basically the car just has to leave the ground 3 times in a somewhat quick succession. This usually happens whether you want it to or not out in the hills.

Hold My Hair

Take a picture of someone vomiting.

I got this by hanging around a bar at night. I ran around the general area until a saw a guy walking kind of hunched over and holding his stomach. Then he stopped and started throwing up. Whip out the camera and take a picture. I got him at the end when he was standing up and wiping his mouth but I still got it.

Let Me Ride

Travel 200 meters on top of a car by hacking it.

This requires a talent, Vehicle Directional Hack in the Vehicle hacking section. Then what you'll want to do is find a parked car on a very straight section of road. Get on top and hack the vehicle to drive. Let it go for a bit, and then hack the car again and give it another boost of speed. As long as you continue forward unabated it should only take hacking it to get it moving, and then doing it again to get the necessary distance.

One of the Gang

Complete 5 DedSec events.

I don't have this yet, as I haven't been able to get the online working. Will update when I do.

Natural Born Killer

Neutralize 1 Hunter in Bounty Hunter mode.

I don't have this yet, as I haven't been able to get the online working. Will update when I do.

Please Marcus, Don't Hurt Them

Successfully neutralize 5 fugitives in Bounty Hunter.

I don't have this yet as I haven't been able to get the online working. Will update when I do.

Hold My Hand

Successfully complete an online Co-op Operation.

I don't have this yet as I haven't been able to get the online working. Will update when I do.

Feeding Frenzy

Use the "Call the cops" hack on the donut-disguised man in Haight-Ashbury

This requires the talent APB: Suspect Located in the Social Engineering section.

See the video for more:

Troll'r

Successfully invade another hacker.

I haven't done this yet as I haven't been able to get the multiplayer working. Will update when I do.

Got the Shutterbug

Take 25 ScoutX location pictures.

You can get this app on your phone. You have to buy it and download it if you haven't yet. You'll uncover these areas as you travel through the city and get near them (if you have the app, not sure they get marked if you don't). I didn't focus on this until the end and I had unlocked more than 25 by then (I think there's 57 total). Then just use the app to travel to the necessary areas, look at the app and see what the picture is, and take the selfie.

Since you only need 25, you can leave out the ones that involve people since they aren't always there. There are others like paintings and such that are always there, so I would start with those.

One-Man Garage

Buy 25 cars in a car dealership.

This is an expensive trophy. I recommend starting with Total Motors and going through the various types of vehicles and buying all the cheapest ones available. I had completed all the missions and collected a lot of money bags before I had enough for this.

Pimp My eKart

Get all the eKart upgrades.

To do this you must do the eKart races. After the race a suggestion on how to improve the eKart will be made. Then you have to go do a little mission to get the part. You'll get this after getting the final part.

App'ing Around

Buy all the apps in the App Shop.

You can do this right from the start of the game. They are all only a few dollars.

I Get Around

Do a drone race.

You have to have the Quadcopter to do these races. Then just go and participate in one. You don't even have to win.

Ain't No Stopping

Do a bike race.

Just go see about the bike races and then partake in one. You don't even have to win.

The Fox

Finish Operation: Shadow.

This is a little easter egg mission. As long as you're being vigilant searching for side missions as you're playing you'll come across it.
